ASUS ROG PHONE III REVIEW:
INTRODUCTION:
Asus is very popular name in gaming hardware and that extends to phone too. The newest to come out is Asus Rog Phone III which is their's latest flagship. This handset has a high and responsive high refresh rate oled display, huge battery life and many more.
The Rog Phone III is a flagship phone made up of premium glass and metal. You get a game style aesthetic look including a glowing LED logo. The finish is glossy not matte . One special touch if the triangle accent on the back which is a window through which you can see the phone's huge copper heatsink. The look of the Rog III is quite similar to the last year's model. It's little bit thicker and heftier than the previous one. Just like Rog Phone II , there is no IP rating, it is vulnerable to dust and water. Asus is known for its extensive selection of gaming accessories for its Rog Phones. You get an aeroactive cooler 3 in the box. It's a fan that is attached to help in cooling down the phone and it doubles as a kickstand. You can use the accessories of previous year Rog Phone like Kunai Gamepad 2. The case and paddles of Rog 2 don't fit on Rog 3 so, you have to use it as more of a stand alone bluetooth controller. Asus had also announced their new Kunai Gamepad 3. Last year's twin view sick 2 is fully compatible here as well and it gives you a giant nintendos sort of vibes, although in-games supports for a dual screen. You can find some games that can utilise the second screen. Another peripheral you can use with the Rog III is the mobile desktop dock. It allows you to connect a phone to a TV or PC and play your games on big screen.
The Rog III's display had some upgrades over last year despite keeping the size same. It's a 6.59" OLED panel with 1080p resolution and 144Hz refresh rate with 270Hz sampling rate that means moving objects should appear much smoother to you. You get an option to change the refresh rate to 60Hz , 90Hz , 120Hz or 144Hz and there's also an automode that will adjust the refresh rate based on that particular application. This phone is perfect for gaming. You get an excellent contrast you'd expect from an oled and the maximum brightness is great. Rog III employs an under display fingerprint scanner for walking up and unlocking the phone, which is quite fast and responsive. There's an always on display as well as a notification led up at the top plus you can program the glowing logo on the back of the phone to shine for the notifications. The Rog III has a front facing stereo speaker setup, which is powerful. Each speaker had a 7 magnet design and a amplifier. Sounds and frequencies like footsteps are amplified. It has an advance crosstalk cancellation to have better seperation of the channels for cleaner directionality and one of the coolest features is the bass boost which uses psychoacoustics to trick the air into recognising louder and deeper basstones.
There is no 3.5mm jack on the Rog Phone III but there is a dongle included to plug in traditional headphones and there's actually an audio jack on the aeroactive cooler fan. The Rog III has plenty of storage on board and is of the superfast ufs 3.1 variety. You can choose for 128GB, 256GB and 512GB options. The Rog III user interface is based on Android 10 and it brings bold aesthetics with geometric shapes and contrasty colours. In this handset there's something called powermaster which is a centralized place for managing apps power consumption and charging option to increase battery life.
The Rog Phone III is powered by the Snapdragon 865+ chipset as this is the fastest you can get on Android. It provides support for 5G network speed compared to the regular 865 offers a 10% bump in clock speed of prime CPU core . It has a 6000mAH battery which is amoung the largest one you can get on flagship. Rog III is equipped with triple camera setup on the back, there's a 64mp quad bayer main camera, 13mp Ultra-wide cam and a 5mp macro camera.
